A tour to the western front in the company of Ian Ronayne, leading Channel Islands military historian and expert guide. We follow the experiences of heroes from Jersey and Guernsey, visiting the recently unveiled Channel Islands memorials at Guillemont and Masnières. Explore the Somme battlefields, the killing fields of Passchendaele and spectacular Vimy Ridge. Tour concludes at the moving Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres.

Itinerary includes:

  • Fast ferry to St Malo with coach transfer to Amiens. Lunch, en route, at the Le Frutier restaurant in Villedieu-les-Poêles. Overnight stay at the Novotel in Amiens with dinner at the hotel. Three nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Arras with 2 dinners at the hotel.
  • Day 2 visits to: Beaumont Hamel Memorial Park, the Thiepval Memorial, the Lochnagar Crater, the Somme Museum in Albert, the Jersey contingent memorial at Guillemont, Rancourt German Cemetery, Delville Wood Cemetery and the South African Memorial.
  • Day 3 visits to: Vimy Ridge preserved trenches, visitor centre and the Canadian Memorial. Notre Dame de Lorette French National Cemetery. Wellington Quarry, Arras. Royal Guernsey Light Infantry Memorial, Masnières. Cambria Memorial to the missing at Louverval.
  • Day 4 visits to: Dud Corner Cemetery, Loos Memorial to the missing, Indian Memorial at Neuve Chapelle and the Portuguese National Cemetery. Le Doulieu/Vieux Berquin Cemetery, RGLI graves. Passchendaele Experience Museum at Zonnebeke and Tyne Cot Military Cemetery. Free time in Ypres to dine before the last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.
  • Day 5: Coach to Honfleur with free time for lunch. Return to St Malo for overnight stay. Morning ferry to Jersey, afternoon ferry to Guernsey.
